A grand slam by Rich Green drove the Bristol Bats to a 30-2 victory over the Taunton Musketeers on Sunday.
With the Bats leading 8-2 after four innings, MVP Green ignited a 13 run sixth inning for the Bristol team with his first ever grand slam.
It was a excellent overall performance from Green who also pitched five strong innings, giving up just two runs while striking out five Musketeers. He also drove in six runs and stole six bases.
The Bats finished off the game with a rare triple play which started with an excellent catch in the outfield by team manager Billy Vickery.
Newcomer Ashley Pooley continued to impress with his performance at the plate.  He got a hit every time he was up at bat and fielded well at third base.
“It was important that we responded after the loss to the Badgers,” said Billy Vickery. “I am delighted we didn’t commit any errors in the field and the offensively the whole team made strong contributions.”
Bristol Badgers were due to play the Taunton Muskets at Somerdale Pavilion but the game had to be rearranged and will now take place later in the year.
The two Bristol teams have a week off with league matches resuming on Sunday 4th June.
The Badgers will travel to Plymouth to take on the Mariners while the Bats host the Newton Brewers at Somerdale. Both games start at 12 noon.
