Members of the GB Women’s Baseball extended roster who played for Bristol Baseball Club last season

Great Britain Baseball coaches and players will be in Bristol next week on the look out for new talent from the South West, Wales and the Midlands.

The national programme will be on the lookout for boys between 12 and 18 and girls and women aged 12 and upward who show the promise to join the GB set up. The session will be hosted by Bristol Baseball Club on Saturday 12th April between 1.00pm and 5.00pm at Somerdale Pavilion in Keynsham.

“We are really looking forward to getting to Bristol and seeing all the talent available from the region,” said Pietro Sollecito, head coach of the GB Women’s National Team who along with other members of the GB coaching staff will run the session. “We know there is a lot of talent across the country and our first event in Scotland was very successful.”

Bristol Baseball Club has one of its youth team already attending GB U12 sessions and the club has been represented at U15 and the Women’s National Team in the past.

The GB U12s, U15s, U23s and the Senior National Team will all compete in Europe later this summer with the Women’s National Team taking part in the European Championships in August.

“Its an honour to host the GB programme at Somerdale Pavilion on their second talent spotting day this year,” said Rhodri Theaker, chairman of Bristol Baseball Club. “We know how hard the players associated with the club work to secure their roster spots and have seen a lot of young talent at clubs throughout the region that deserve an opportunity to try out for the GB programme.”
