Opposition pitching proved too strong for the Bristol Badgers as they went down 10-0 to the East London Latin Boys in the BBF AAA wildcard game at Farnham Park on Sunday.

The Badgers offense only managed six hits against Jose Galvez who struck out eight Bristol players to get the win.

Luke Claflin pitched well for the Badgers over his nine innings striking out eight Latin Boys and only walking four.

He limited the opposition to just three runs over the first five innings but the Badgers batters left five runners on base.

The game started well with Mattia Papini and Tom Hollies combining for a double play and some good catches in the outfield but the Badgers couldn’t capitalise on the solid defensive performance.

Five Badgers got hits with catcher Rhodri Theaker leading the way with two. He also stole the team’s only base of the game.

“Its been great season overall and we always knew the Latin Boys pitching was going to be difficult,” said Theaker. “I am really proud of the way the team has played this year and improved to make the playoffs.

“Luke Claflin and Mike Osborn have both pitched extremely well and it has been great to see John Brownlee rediscover his power with three home runs.”

The Bristol Bats will compete in the BBF A semi finals at Somerdale Pavilion in Keynsham on Saturday 10th September with a place in the final at stake the following Sunday at Farnham Park.
