Bristol Badgers sealed the second seed spot for the BBF AAA playoffs when they beat Richmond Roebucks 18-8 in the first game of their double header on Sunday in Keynsham.
It was a strong offensive display from the Bristol team with the top of the order, Mattia Papini, Tim Singiser, Deivydas Trinkunas and Keegan Martinjako driving in 12 runs between them. Second baseman Anthony Desgardin also had a great game at the plate with three hits as the Badgers scored freely from start to finish
Trinkunas and Papini were also excellent on the pitchers mound keeping the Roebucks offense in check on a hot afternoon at Somerdale Pavilion.
The second game went to the Roebucks 14-1 who were able to score behind a dominant pitching performance from Rei Martinez.

The highlight of the second game was an outfield assist double play by Badgers’ left fielder Martinjako. After leaping to make a great catch in deep left field, the outfielder threw a bullet to first base to nab the Roebuck batter who couldn’t get back in time to tag up.
“I am delighted with the performances we put in during the regular season and finish as the second seed for the playoffs,” said Rhodri Theaker, the Badgers player manager. “We now have a couple of weeks to prepare for the first round of the playoffs with the aim of going all the way to the final and securing some silverware.”
