About our teams

We have two teams, the Badgers and the Bats. We are a not-for-profit organisation registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club and our teams are classified as adult teams for players aged 14 and upwards. Our club is run by volunteers and we do not receive any regular funding, thus our running costs are met by players fees. We currently do not have a youth team but we are eager to hear from anyone who would like to help us start a youth program in Bristol.

In 2014 the Badgers and the Bats will be rostered separately and will play in the Independent South West Baseball League. The teams will be announced in March along with the South West League schedule. For the recent history of each team, please read below.

The Badgers previously played in the BBF’s AAA South Division. The Badgers won the South Division in 2011 and tied with Oxford for top honours in the league in 2012.  The 2013 season saw the Badgers tie for 4th place and miss out on the playoffs by run differential. In 2012 the Badgers had a player selected for both the Great Britain Junior (under-18) squad and the Great Britain under-23 squad, and in 2013 both these players were selected for the GB Lions squad.

The Bats were no less eager to win every game, but they played fewer games each year. Typically Bats players may have some baseball experience but due to work, study or family commitments they prefer a less demanding baseball schedule. Also most of our first-year players, often with cricket backgrounds, tend to play for the Bats.  The Bats joined the Southwest Baseball League in 2012, playing against teams from Plymouth, Torbay, and (in 2013) Exeter in a 12 game schedule.
